Event Scam Kingpin Arrested in Lucknow After Escape from Police Custody

Lucknow: The Lucknow Police and Special Task Force (STF) scored a significant breakthrough by arresting Viraj Arvind Trivedi, a ₹50,000 bounty criminal accused of defrauding crores of rupees through event scams. Trivedi, who had escaped police custody earlier this year, was apprehended near Palassio Mall in the Sushant Golf City area.

Under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Singh, the STF had been tracking Trivedi’s gang for months. Acting on a tip-off received by Sub-Inspector Tej Bahadur Singh, a joint operation was planned with the local police. The team laid a trap and arrested Trivedi at 5:05 PM on Wednesday as he arrived to meet an associate.

During interrogation, Trivedi confessed to swindling hundreds of victims by promising grand-scale events and absconding with their money. Initially arrested in connection with a fraud case registered at Sushant Golf City police station, Trivedi had managed to escape custody on September 27 during a court appearance in Vadodara, Gujarat.

Trivedi had returned to Lucknow, allegedly to plan an escape with his family, when the STF successfully captured him. He faces multiple charges, including fraud, criminal breach of trust, and criminal intimidation under sections 420, 406, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

The accused is now in custody at Sushant Golf City police station, where further legal proceedings are underway.
